Everything that we bring to offering our clients a high quality of service has to be paid for from our fees. The fees we charge cover room or building rental, insurance, administration costs, memberships, materials, assessments tests, electricity, phone, stationery…. the list in private practice seems endless. Most of these costs cannot be deferred; therefore we have to ensure that even the basic running costs are covered.

Options has a schedule of fees which has to cover as many aspects of the staff time as possible. We always endeavour to keep fees as low as possible but in recent months it has become necessary to include a fee for several items that are now taking an enormous amount of staff time. Please take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with this schedule as some items will affect you.

Please note that if you cannot make a payment at the time of consultation/service, there will be a $5.00 accounting fee added to your invoice. If you do not make a payment for two successive speech therapy appointments you will be unable to resume therapy until the account is settled.

You may be able to offset your expenses for speech therapy by contacting funding sources such as Medicare (Care Plan), Private Health Insurers and some funding bodies. A Medicare Care Plan may pay $45 for up to 5 sessions of allied health therapy.  Contact your GP for more information.

We accept most credit cards at our Petrie Clinic or over the telephone.  However, on all credit card payments there will be a surcharge of $2.00 to cover bank charges.

Unless we are notified of a cancellation within 12 hours of the appointment time, there will be a cancellation fee of half the scheduled session fee to cover preparation time and operational costs.  If you do not attend for your appointment and do not notify us you will be charged the full scheduled fee.  Options does not receive any funding support to pay its staff or running costs and regrets that this makes it necessary to have strictly enforced non-cancellation and non-attendance fees.

An accounting fee also applies for accounts not settled within a 30-day period.  After 30 days an administration fee of $20 per week will be charged until the account is settled.  Government and non-government agencies should be aware of this charge.

Special Note to Funded Clients:

If you are receiving funding for your therapy sessions please note that your funding body i.e. FaHSCIA may not provide funding for the cost of travel, cancellation fees and other non-direct client services. In this event you will need to make payment for non-funded services as they arise and before ongoing services resume. Your funding body i.e. FaHSCIA may also not provide funding for services such as music therapy which may be integral to some speech therapy sessions. In this event, you are required to contribute personally to the non-recognised service component. Example, combined speech-music therapy will entail a speech therapy cost to the funding body and the remaining cost from the schedule fee will need to be paid on a separate invoice by you.
